Ceiling Lights: The Answer to a Low Ceiling
Ceiling lights are the most adaptable fixtures in the house, and often the only workable option once the ceiling drops below eight feet. Mounted close to the surface, a flush mount spreads light widely without ever getting in the way — which matters in a hallway, an entryway, or a bedroom under a sloped roof, where a pendant would quickly feel intrusive.
Size follows floor area: around 12 inches across for a room up to 100 square feet, 16 to 20 inches between 100 and 200, and beyond that two fixtures spread apart rather than one very wide one, which always leaves corners in shadow. Check the drop as well if a cabinet door opens directly underneath.
In a bathroom, ingress protection matters: an IP44 rating or better is the usual recommendation outside the direct splash zone. For a high ceiling or a more decorative effect, look at our pendant lights instead; for damp rooms, start from our bathroom selection.
