Cozy & Warm: Fixtures That Take the Chill Out of a Room
A warm atmosphere almost never comes from the fixture alone, but from how the light is distributed. The rule is simple and counterintuitive: the more sources there are, and the lower and dimmer they sit, the more welcoming a room feels. One ceiling fixture at full output produces exactly the opposite effect, whatever its style.
The fixtures in this selection all work that way. Fabric or fiber shades that soften the beam, amber and smoked glass that tints the light slightly, round shapes and matte surfaces instead of reflective ones. Everything that keeps light from arriving raw.
Two settings finish the job: a color temperature of 2700K or below, and a dimmer so you can drop it properly late in the evening. Build it with our table lamps and our natural materials.
